Multiple Sclerosis Detection Use Case

The STAGE protocol helps to provide brain images which help differentiate Multiple Sclerosis lesion properties. The susceptibility-based STAGE outputs help differentiate normal appearing white matter from those which may have become demyelinated or infiltrated by peripheral macrophages which have become loaded with iron.

What do we look for?

  • SWIM (QSM) Contrast Change in MS Lesions
  • Vein Orientation to MS Lesion
  • Water Content and Inflammation using PD/T1 Mapping

The vein imaging aspect of STAGE allows for the visualization of the location of central and associated veins with Multiple Sclerosis lesions. STAGE output contrasts may help further differentiate lesions between inflammatory and demyelinated when combined with information from T2 FLAIR.
