Parkinson’s Disease Detection Use Case

The STAGE protocol can be used to visualize changes in the Neuromelanin and iron content of key dopaminergic structures such as the Pars Compacta located as part of the Substantia Nigra.

  • Iron in the Basal Ganglia
  • “Swallow Tail” Sign

Increased mineralization and iron deposition within the deep gray matter structures of the brain has been linked to some neurodegenerative diseases. The STAGE outputs have the ability to show this property of brain structures by their increased relative contrast.
